About Transferring Your Domain Name
You can transfer one or more domain names to us from another registrar. For more information, see Transferring Domain Names to Us.
If I have products set up elsewhere, does the transfer cause site downtime?
If you host your site, email, or other products somewhere else, you might experience downtime, depending on the outgoing registrar.
NOTE: To minimize the chance of downtime for your website during the domain transfer, we recommend setting up a hosting account with us first and then transferring your domain to us.
Do I need to update my DNS settings?
When you use our hosting and transfer the domain to us, we update the nameservers automatically. If you host your website through another provider and transfer the domain name to us, you can choose to keep the domain's nameservers when it transfers (you select this option during the transfer purchase process), or you can update the nameservers manually once the domain is active in your account.
NOTE: Consult your hosting provider for correct nameserver settings.
What about my MX Records? MX? Mail Exchange
You only need to modify your MX Records if you host a domain with us and host your email account somewhere else. For Example if you have internal emails, exchange emails or your emails are being routed threw a 3rd party security software.
