Social Media is important. Marketing through in-store displays is also important. Nordstrom has accomplished the difficult task of pairing social media within their store, specifically through in-store displays. Pinterest, which is based on images specifically within categories of fashion and design, has become a huge ROI maker for large and small businesses.
Nordstrom has successfuly been executing social media and has double the amount of followers on their Pinterest profile vs. their Facebook profile, over 4,000,000 followers. Along with successful social media profiles, Nordstrom has brought social media into their retail store through in-store displays. They have attached small signage with the text “Top Pinned Item” and #Nordstrom hashtag on displays that include most pinned items on Pinterest.
Nordstrom has worked directly with Pinterest in order to achieve concrete goals. Colin Johnson, Nordstrom spokesperson, said about the Pinterest team: “Their team has been incredibly helpful with all our efforts using this social network.” Nordstrom didn’t give quantitative results, they are hoping that this helps with customer engagement and interaction.
Not only have they included social media within their retail stores, but they have also included a “Top Pinned” page to their website. This allows customers to easily click on the page and see all of the most pinned items from Nordstrom’s at their disposal. It brings more engagement, reach and virility. According to Johnson, “Pinterest continues to be a key part of what we do because our customers love it and want us to be there,” added Johnson, “We’ll continue to evolve anything we do on social based on our customers and what our different communities are looking for.”
